Still snow go

Still no sign of the great thaw, so it looks like we will not be working now til after the new year. Next week we have the intrepid job of rescuing some of our tools from the snowbound hills.

Loch Etchachan

This is a view to loch etchachan taken in Oct 2010 when we carried out our maintenance run of the paths in Mar Lodge as part of the Cairngorm Maintenance Program 2010

2011 is shaping up to be a good one aka Trying to stay positive.

Their are signs that next year will be a good one with a few jobs in the bag and an optimism we will win more. Next year should see us in Lanark, Lochgilphead,  and the Cairngorms again- if all goes well with the weather and tendering. We will hope to recruit in the new year once we clear our feet of the sna’.

Every SNOW cloud has a silver lining

So we are now going into the third week of disruptions to our well oiled machine that is the Hill Navvies of Upland Access. The early winter has put all of us out of kilter and its no consolation that no one else in the mountain footpath trade is doing anything either. But when I hear in the news  about cars being stuck on the M8 and people trapped for 18 hours I feel pretty guilty. There’s a silver lining to the snow clouds and  its that its giving me time to get my webpage updated and also to start this News blog. Hopefully the intention will be to keep you up to date with what we are doing, where we are, and any relevant News, grumbles and photos.
